On a gloriously sunny raceday, today the 25th June, Chepstow Racecourse named a race after TV presenter Hayley Moore following her recent act of bravery when she stopped a loose horse on the track.
The fifth race on the card was named: THE 188BET HAYLEY MOORE SUPER WOMAN HANDICAP STAKES
Storm Melody won the race for jockey Martin Harley and trainer Jonjo O’Neill and it was great to have ‘Super Woman’ Hayley present the trophy.
Hayley made world headlines as far as Australia and the USA when she virtually threw herself at Give Em A Clump at the meeting on the 22nd May. The horse, trained by David Evans, had unseated jockey Fran Berry and ran loose completing several laps of the track.
Phil Bell, Executive Director at Chepstow Racecourse said: “Hayley is a member of the famous Moore racing family which includes top jockeys Ryan and Jamie. She has been brought up handling horses all of her life. She acted on instinct with her actions in May and whilst I wouldn’t recommend anyone else tries this move, it was something she was used to doing in the yard and on the gallops.”
Chris Graham, from 188BET commented: “When Chepstow approached us about sponsoring this race we were only too happy to get involved. Hayley's heroics at the course last month will live long in the memory and we were delighted that it occurred during a race we sponsored. Getting involved again today was a no-brainer. Bravo, Hayley!”
