Due to unforeseen issues with the racing surface, racing at Chepstow has been abandoned after race two this afternoon. In accordance with our terms and conditions, all racegoers will receive a 50% refund. In addition, all racegoers will be offered a complimentary ticket to a future race meeting at Chepstow. The children’s entertainment booked for today will continue throughout the afternoon.
All online ticket purchases will be refunded automatically, customers who bought on the day should send their tickets to Chepstow Racecourse, St Lawrence Road, Chepstow, Monmouthshire, NP16 6BE with their name and contact details and we will call back to process the refund.
Arena Racing Company will provide a goodwill payment of £300 to the owners of the 57 horses in the six races which have been abandoned, and any jockey only booked to ride in races three to eight this afternoon will receive a riding fee of £125.
A full investigation into the ground issues that have come to light today will be looked into urgently. Safety of both human and equine participants remains, as ever, our primary concern
