Welsh horse racing roars back into action with a star-studded Instagram Live event to celebrate Chepstow’s first Behind Closed Doors fixture on Monday 15th June.
Broadcast live from 2pm on Chepstow’s Instagram account, the course will welcome a different celebrity guest for each race for a live Q&A and in-race reaction event.
Fans will have the opportunity to quiz the guests in real time using Instagram’s questions feature, whilst Chepstow’s host will be lifting the lid on guests' lives in lockdown.
Confirmed guests include Welsh rugby stars, George North, Jonathan Davis and Josh Navidi, Fitness guru and Love Island contestant Frankie Foster, as well as champion Jockey Richard Johnson.
Phil Bell, Executive Director of Chepstow and Ffos Las said “This is an exciting new initiative for horse racing in what are challenging times for all sports. Prior to the Covid19 pandemic racing was working hard to attract new racegoers and it is obvious we will need to be extremely pro-active and innovative in the future. Engaging with a new audience via Instagram and our guest celebrities is just one promotional idea we are currently working on at Chepstow and Ffos Las."
The nine race card sees the welcome return to Wales some of most prominent racing figures in Britain.
Speaking this week, Monmouthshire racehorse trainer Grace Harris said,
"It's felt like an age but we're delighted to be back racing! The track is looking great.
"Wales has some of the most exciting trainers and jockeys and I think we are all hoping to pick up where we left off from pre lockdown."
